- You can automate with Bash and Python or Go, and have operated Kafka or RabbitMQ
Who this fits
This senior role suits an engineer who can investigate failures across infrastructure and applications, take ownership of reliability work, and collaborate with and mentor other engineers. It is onsite in Limassol, Cyprus, and includes an on-call rotation.
From the employer
We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to improve the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with engineering teams to operate production services, automate infrastructure management, and improve observability and incident response.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, operate, and improve infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, including Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Redis, and VPC networking.
- Identify and implement cloud cost savings through resource rightsizing, autoscaling, committed use discounts, storage lifecycle policies, and removal of unused resources while maintaining service reliability and performance.
- Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform and Ansible, with a focus on repeatability, maintainability, and safe changes.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD and GitOps workflows using GitLab and Argo CD.
- Operate Kubernetes clusters and support application deployments, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and upgrades.
- Manage secrets and access policies using HashiCorp Vault.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Kafka and RabbitMQ, ensuring reliable message delivery and processing.
- Improve centralized logging using OpenSearch, Logstash, and Fluent Bit.
- Build actionable monitoring, dashboards, and alerting using VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, and PagerDuty.
- Define service-level indicators and objectives (SLIs/SLOs) with engineering teams and use error budgets to guide reliability improvements.
- Participate in the on-call rotation, lead incident response, and drive follow-up actions through blameless postmortems.
- Administer and troubleshoot Red Hat–based Linux systems, including performance, networking, and security.
- Manage CDN and DNS configurations using Akamai and EdgeNext.
- Develop and validate backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Reduce operational toil through automation, clear runbooks, and improvements to platform tooling.
Requirements
- Strong production experience in SRE, platform engineering, or infrastructure engineering, with ownership of business-critical services.
- Hands-on experience operating GCP infrastructure and Kubernetes workloads. Experience analyzing cloud spending, identifying cost optimization opportunities, and measuring the impact of implemented improvements.
- Proficiency with Terraform and Ansible for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and GitOps deployment workflows.
- Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills, particularly with Red Hat–based distributions.
- Solid understanding of networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, TLS, load balancing, and cloud networking.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, and production incident response.
- Practical experience operating messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Experience with secrets management and secure infrastructure access.
- Ability to write automation scripts and tools in Bash and at least one programming language, such as Python or Go.
- Ability to investigate complex failures across infrastructure and application boundaries.
- Strong communication skills, a sense of ownership, and the ability to mentor engineers and collaborate across teams.
- Experience using AI-powered tools to improve engineering productivity, accelerate troubleshooting, and support scripting, automation, and documentation, while critically validating outputs and protecting sensitive data.
