From the employer
We are looking for a Cloud Engineer who is passionate about cloud infrastructure, automation, and continuous improvement. You don't need years of experience to succeed in this role. What matters most is your technical foundation, curiosity, willingness to learn, and motivation to take ownership.
At Ohpen, a cloud-native fintech company, you'll help develop and improve the AWS infrastructure behind our modern core-banking platform, with a particular focus on data and database environments. You'll join a small, collaborative team where your ideas are valued, you'll have room to grow, and your work will directly contribute to the reliability and scalability of our platform.
You'll join our Cloud Engineering database team, currently consisting of two team members and help maintain and continuously improve the infrastructure supporting Ohpen's core-banking platform.
The team has a high level of autonomy, with plenty of opportunities to work on projects that make our infrastructure more efficient, secure, and scalable. This includes improving AWS architecture, developing reusable Terraform modules, and creating internal tools that enable developers to manage infrastructure safely and independently.A big part of your role will involve automation and operational improvements. You'll help simplify infrastructure provisioning, streamline deployments, strengthen monitoring and observability, and identify potential issues before they affect production. Our approach is to prevent problems wherever possible rather than constantly reacting to them.
Our environment includes more than 100 Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL clusters, so automation plays an essential role in keeping everything running smoothly. From backups and access management to security, performance, and cost optimization, there's always something to improve. We also develop our own tooling to make managing this infrastructure easier and more efficient.
While SQL knowledge or previous database experience would certainly be useful, it's not a requirement. This is primarily a cloud infrastructure and automation role rather than a traditional database administration position.
As you become familiar with our environment, you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of infrastructure improvement projects, from identifying opportunities and designing solutions to implementing them in production. We're looking for someone who is proactive, enjoys solving problems, and wants to keep developing their technical skills.
