Responsibilities
- Design, develop and operate scalable and secure cloud backend applications for IoT platforms in a Microsoft Azure environment.
- Implement distributed backend services using Java and Spring Boot, including REST APIs, MQTT-based communication, and event-driven integrations.
- Develop cloud-native microservices and deploy them on Kubernetes-based container platforms.
- Contribute to the design and evolution of backend architectures, service interfaces, and integration patterns for connected devices and cloud services.
- Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation for application services using tools such as Helm, GitOps, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
- Take responsibility for backend services across the full lifecycle, from requirements analysis and technical design to implementation, testing, deployment, operation, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure high availability, security, observability, and maintainability of backend services.
- Collaborate closely with product owners, technical architects, IT, security teams, and internal or external service providers.
- Support the integration of connected devices, backend services, and external systems into the cloud platform landscape.
Skills
- Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a comparable qualification.
- Several years of experience in backend development with Java and Spring Boot.
- Required experience in designing and implementing distributed backend applications, microservices, and REST APIs.
- Good knowledge of container technologies, Helm, Linux, and cloud-native deployment concepts.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Good understanding of messaging and integration technologies such as MQTT5.
- Knowledge of databases and data stores such as PostgreSQL or InfluxDB is beneficial.
- Experience with IoT platforms, connected devices, or device-to-cloud communication is a plus.
- Experience with agile software development, requirements management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong problem-solving skills, affinity for innovation, and a structured, collaborative way of working.
- Very good English skills; German skills are a plus.
