Role brief

devopsroles summary, based on the employer's posting.

What you'll do

  • Share responsibility for live internal and hosted products, keeping reliability, security, speed and cost in view
  • Join incident detection and response, help resolve issues, and take part in blameless reviews and a fair on-call rotation
  • Set service indicators, objectives and error budgets, and give technical input on maintenance and SLA proposals
  • Improve monitoring with OpenTelemetry, while building reusable platform components and self-service paths
  • Work across delivery pipelines, infrastructure code, cloud architecture, networking and security; automate repetitive operations

What you bring

  • Hands-on experience operating production products in DevOps or SRE, with growing ownership of their reliability
  • Practical grounding in observability, cloud-native systems, delivery pipelines, infrastructure as code, networking and resilience
  • Security experience covering areas such as secrets, code scanning, penetration tests or vulnerability fixes
  • You use AI in your daily work and apply it to operations, automation or reliability

Who this fits

This mid-level role suits a DevOps or SRE engineer ready to take on increasing responsibility and grow within a developing team. You’ll work closely with development teams and sometimes client partners or customer operations teams. A fair on-call rotation is part of the role, and the position is based in Bucharest.

From the employer

About us

We're an independent European digital product studio with a strong track record of delivering market-defining strategies and products for enterprises and governments. With about 200 talented people across three countries, premium AI capabilities and a diverse portfolio of international clients, we define, design and ship high-quality digital products, strategies and software. From global cloud-based platforms and large-scale apps to medical devices, banking software and augmented reality experiences. In a nutshell: if it lives and breathes digital, it’s what we do best.

Become a part of our team

At In The Pocket, you join a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers, strategists and data specialists who care about the work as much as the people they work with. We work in small, autonomous teams that stay close to our clients and their users, and we give everyone the space to take ownership, speak up and grow. You’ll learn from colleagues across our studios, ship products that reach thousands or even millions of people and help shape what digital can do for leading organisations in Europe.

What you’ll do

We're looking for a DevOps engineer who wants to help us improve and scale the reliability, quality and efficiency of what we build.

  • Take shared ownership of internal and hosted products in production, helping keep them reliable, secure, performant and cost-effective.
  • Take part in the incident lifecycle (detection, response, mitigation, resolution and blameless post-mortems) using incident.io, and join a fair, sustainable on-call rotation.
  • Help define and implement SLIs, SLOs and error budgets, and support maintenance and SLA presales with technical input for proposals and contracts.
  • Contribute to a modern observability stack with a strong focus on OpenTelemetry.
  • Help grow a platform engineering and inner-sourcing culture by building reusable components (e.g. GitLab components, Terraform modules) and following self-service golden paths and production-readiness scorecards.
  • Work hands-on across CI/CD, infrastructure as code, cloud-native architecture and networking, and help design for resilience, performance and scale.
  • Embed security into what you run: secrets management, scanning (SAST/DAST), and support penetration tests and vulnerability remediation.
  • Reduce toil through automation and an AI-first approach to operations, keeping a close feedback loop with the development teams.
  • Help apply and follow best practices in incident management, learning from more senior colleagues along the way.

Who you are

You won't tick every box on day one, depth in the core matters more than breadth across all of it, and you'll grow the team's capabilities around the gaps.

  • A DevOps / SRE engineer with hands-on experience running products in production and a growing sense of ownership for their reliability.
  • Eager to contribute to and grow with a young team and discipline, comfortable picking up responsibility as it develops.
  • AI-native in how you work: AI is part of your daily craft, and you apply it to operations, automation and reliability.
  • Familiar with incident management (incident.io a plus), with some exposure to SLIs and SLOs; experience with maintenance/SLA contracts and presales is a bonus, not a must.
  • Solid observability skills (OpenTelemetry a plus), with a broad hands-on foundation across cloud-native (GCP or AWS), CI/CD and IaC (GitLab, Terraform), networking and resilience.
  • Security-minded: scanning (SAST/DAST), penetration testing, secrets and vulnerability management.
  • An interest in platform engineering: self-service capabilities, reusable components and inner sourcing.
  • A collaborative communicator who works well with development teams and, where needed, client partners and customer operations teams.

What we offer

Joining In The Pocket means becoming part of a team that shapes the future of our clients’ businesses across Europe. Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • You’ll start with a permanent contract in a role that comes with responsibility and the opportunity to make a real impact from day one.
  • We offer a competitive salary that reflects your experience and the value you bring.
  • Our benefits package has you covered with medical insurance, meal vouchers, and more.
  • Life at In The Pocket isn’t just about work, we host team events throughout the year to celebrate, connect, and have fun together.
  • Learning never stops here, so after six months, you’ll receive a dedicated learning and development budget to keep growing your skills and exploring new horizons.
