devopsroles summary, based on the employer's posting.
What you'll do
- Measure PreForm startup, upload, print-generation and crash KPIs in CI, flagging regressions on pull requests and nightly runs
- Rebuild end-to-end system tests around PreForm Server and its Local API, working with the API team
- Run customer models through slicing and support generation, then compare outputs with saved baselines
- Triage Sentry crashes, track trends and build reproduction tools so engineers can reach root causes faster
- Maintain print baselines, flaky CI tests, runtimes and golden files as core test infrastructure
What you bring
- You can use C++ to test PreForm internals, including mesh operations, print-file creation and slicing results
- You can build Python tools for model pipelines, API-based test drivers, result comparisons and reports
- You have deep CI automation experience, including Jenkins, parallel tests, flake control and baseline testing
- You use crash and performance data from Sentry, Amplitude or dashboards to assess release health
Who this fits
This is a hands-on, mid-to-senior individual contributor role: you’ll define test strategy independently and build it yourself. Desktop testing with Windows or macOS GUI automation is a strong plus. The role is based in Budapest and offers hybrid work.
From the employer
Do you want to change how the world creates?
At Formlabs, we’re building the tools that make it possible for anyone to bring their ideas to life, from cutting-edge products to life-saving medical devices. Our 3D printing technology powers innovation at more than 50,000 industry leaders worldwide, including Apple, Google, Tesla, New Balance, and NASA. Together, we’re helping everyone design, prototype, and manufacture faster than ever before.
In this role you will help building and shipping PreForm, own PreForm's quality and performance signal - make quality automated, measurable, and enforced at the PR gate. We’re a team of hands-on builders, engineers, and innovators reinventing how the world makes physical things. If you’re ready to shape the future of fabrication, come build it with us.
The Job:
- Performance regression detection. Per-PR and nightly measurement of the defined KPIs (startup, upload, print generation, crash rate) in CI, with alerting on regression. This is the enforcement mechanism for the PreForm performance initiative.
- Systemtest re-architecture on the PreForm Local API. Rebuild the systemtest layer to drive end-to-end scenarios headlessly through PreForm Server, in alignment with the API team.
- Customer-file corpus testing. Build and own a pipeline that runs large batches of real customer models through slicing and support generation and diffs results against baselines - catching regressions on the geometry customers actually print, at a scale manual testing cannot reach.
- Crash intelligence. Own Sentry triage, trending, and root-cause attribution; build crash-reproduction harnesses so engineers fix rather than investigate.
- Test infrastructure stewardship. Print regression baselines, CI flake, test runtimes, golden-file management - owned as a product instead of taxing feature engineers.
You:
- C++ proficiency. Able to write integration and system tests against PreForm internals and understand what they exercise (mesh operations, print file generation, slicing output). Not necessarily a geometry expert; not afraid of the codebase.
- Python for tooling and harnesses. Corpus pipelines, API-driven test drivers, result diffing and reporting.
- CI and automation depth. Jenkins, test parallelization, flake management, baseline/golden-file testing strategies.
- Observability instinct. Sentry, Amplitude, crash and performance dashboards. Treats 'is this release healthy' as a data question.
- Desktop application testing experience (strong plus). GUI automation on Windows/macOS (Squish or Qt Test-based harnesses)
- Seniority: mid-to-senior IC. Senior enough to define the test strategy independently; hands-on enough to build it. Real IC appetite.
Bonus Skills:
- Passion for 3D printing and emerging technologies
- Experience in a fast-growing startup environment
