Lead Infrastructure Engineer – Application Delivery & Cloud Load Balancing

Citi is looking for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of enterprise-scale load balancing architecture and cloud application delivery across private and hybrid cloud environments. In this senior individual contributor role within Citi's Application Delivery engineering team, you will drive the design, automation, and resilience of critical network infrastructure that underpins global banking operations. This is a hands-on technical leadership position where your engineering decisions directly shape the reliability and scalability of Citi's cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design and build new load balancing infrastructure products, including cloud-based application delivery services across private and hybrid cloud environments.
• Lead the engineering certification of new operating systems and hardware platforms in collaboration with vendors to meet evolving business requirements.
• Develop and deliver automation solutions for load balancer provisioning and integration within Citi's private and hybrid cloud platforms, including deployments on Red Hat OpenShift and Pivotal PCF.
• Act as the primary engineering escalation point for critical infrastructure outages, leading root cause analysis and driving resolution.
• Partner with cloud, platform, build, and operations teams to strengthen infrastructure resilience and advance software-defined networking capabilities.
• Define system enhancements required to support new product launches and process improvements, translating business needs into clear engineering solutions.
• Mentor and provide technical direction to junior engineers, setting the strategic vision for the Application Delivery team.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 6 to 10 years of engineering experience, with a focus on infrastructure, network engineering, or application delivery.
• Expert-level knowledge of enterprise load balancers, including F5 BIG-IP and Citrix ADC, covering configuration, certification, and operational support.
• Hands-on experience designing and managing cloud-based load balancer and application delivery services across private and public cloud environments.
• Demonstrated ability to build and implement automation solutions for infrastructure deployment and lifecycle management.
• Experience working within large-scale, complex, or global technology environments, including financial services.
• Ability to work independently across matrix engineering and architecture teams, managing competing priorities under pressure.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent practical experience.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with cloud-ready network virtualization technologies such as VMware NSX or equivalent software-defined networking platforms.
• Experience working with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) environments, particularly Red Hat OpenShift or Pivotal PCF.
• Project management experience, with a history of leading cross-functional infrastructure initiatives from design through to delivery.
• Master's degree in a relevant engineering or technology field.
